Florida rapper Foolio, previously known as Julio Foolio, tragically lost his life in a shooting outside a Holiday Inn in Tampa, Florida, in the early hours of Sunday, June 23.
He was only 26 years old. Charles Jones, his real name, was among four individuals who were shot during the incident.The Tampa Police Department received a 911 call around 4:40 am reporting the shooting at 11606 McKinley Drive.
According to their statement, four people were injured, with Charles Jones, known by his stage name Julio Foolio, pronounced dead at the scene. The other three victims were rushed to the hospital and are expected to survive. Footage from the scene showed multiple bullet holes in a car’s windshield and damage to another vehicle.
Jones, originally from Jacksonville, had celebrated his 26th birthday just two days prior and was in Tampa to continue his birthday festivities. His attorney, Lewis Fusco, explained that Jones had been hosting a party at a Tampa Airbnb but was asked to leave due to exceeding occupancy limits.
As he arrived at the Holiday Inn on McKinley Drive, he was reportedly ambushed.Julio Foolio had garnered a significant online following with approximately 650,000 subscribers on YouTube and 1 million followers on Instagram.
He had been actively sharing updates about his birthday celebrations on Instagram, including moments from his party that evening.
This tragic event has shocked his fans and the music community alike, highlighting the sudden and senseless loss of a promising young artist.
