SpongeBob SquarePants Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie leaked on X (formerly Twitter) on January 21, 2024.
Almost all accounts sharing the leaked movie received copyright strikes from Paramount Global, with the exception of one user, Indicator.
The leak is reportedly connected to a networking mistake by Pipeline Studios last year when their entire file server was unintentionally made public.
During that time, the movie got uploaded to Twitter and remained accessible for 5 hours before being removed following a report from Paramount Global.
However, one user reuploaded the video, and it remains on Twitter at the time of this information.
The reason for the film eventually being available on Netflix is tied to a deal Nickelodeon (the franchise owner) made with the streaming giant in 2020.
This deal encompasses all upcoming projects from Nickelodeon and those involving the network, such as the upcoming Avatar: The Last Airbender live-action series.
The plot of SpongeBob SquarePants Saving Bikini Bottom involves SpongeBob and Sandy Cheeks joining forces to reclaim Bikini Bottom and rescue their friends, including Patrick, Squidward, and others.
This comes after their friends are mysteriously taken from the ocean by a new and unknown enemy.
