Norwegian police have confirmed the authenticity of a video depicting the killing of Scandinavian university students Louisa Vesterager Jespersen and Maren Ueland in Morocco’s Atlas Mountains.

The tragic event, characterized as a terrorist act by both Danish and Moroccan authorities, has led to the prosecution of 14 individuals accused of sharing the disturbing footage.

The victims, aged 24 and 28, had spent the night alone in a tent in a remote mountain area. A nearby tent, left behind by the killers, was discovered about 150 meters away.

The investigative leader, Abdelhak Khiam, from Morocco’s special anti-terrorist unit, disclosed that the perpetrators hastily left the tent site, forgetting something crucial to the investigation.

Khiam detailed the extensive investigation, indicating that Moroccan police had mapped the events surrounding the double murder. The anti-terror chief provided new details about the movements of the assailants.

According to Khiam, on December 12, four members of an extremist network met to plan a terrorist attack. They had reportedly convened multiple times in December to decide on the nature of the attack, choosing between targeting authorities in the country or tourists.

The revelation of the premeditated nature of the act emphasizes the need for international collaboration in combating terrorism.

The joint efforts of Danish and Moroccan authorities are pivotal in ensuring justice for the victims and holding those responsible accountable for their actions.
